If you support more rental homes in Vancouver and are frustrated by the lack of action by Vancouver Mayor and Council we need your help.
Two and a half years ago this mayor and council were elected to office at the City of Vancouver promising to work together and get things done. They have proven unable to improve any of the big issues facing our city: homelessness, permit delays, rising property tax rates, a lack of affordable rental homes or crime, to name a few. This mayor and council have simply kicked the can down the road another four years as things in the city just get worse.
The Lower Mainland is expecting a rise in immigration of at least 50% in 2021. For new residents from the rest of Canada or from around the world, the pandemic has made the Lower Mainland more desirable than ever. This is great news, as more residents are a fantastic boon to our culture and economy.
The BCNDP came into government with a promise to build 114,000 affordable homes in ten years. These 114,000 affordable homes would greatly ease pressure off of BC renters, especially those with lower incomes who need the most support.
